Monitoring the implementation of companies’ voluntary commitments is essential to confirm their credibility and to enable transparent communication between companies and their stakeholders.
That is why, three years after the publication of the first commitments in act4nature, act4nature international has carried out the 2018-2020 report of the implementation of the commitments made in 2018.
57* of the 65 companies committed in 2018 participated in the preparation of this report by filling in a grid in which they indicated the progress of each of their commitments at the end of 2020. In total, 486 commitments have been analysed. The participation of 88% of the companies involved in this assessment testifies to the interest they have shown in the process and their will for transparency.
57% of the actions planned by companies in 2018 to implement their commitments have been completed. 39% of these actions are still being implemented, either because they have been delayed or because they have been extended. Only 4% of planned actions have been suspended or cancelled. The implementation of 85% of the individual commitments was communicated by the companies, internally or externally. The report also shows that information on the implementation of more than half of the commitments has been verified. It was either audited by an independent third-party organisation as part of the control of extra-financial data (48%) provided for by French regulations, or submitted to other external control methods (9%) such as labels or other verification methods.
*Other companies have reported on the implementation of their commitments after the publication of this review in September 2021. Today, 60 of the 65 committed companies have reported on the implementation of their commitments.
